Little pups, big names

Poor Brianna & Jasper. They get called so many names, but no matter what they get called, they're still loved!


amy decided not to follow the names of the pups' antecedents that were inspired by fast cars and music, but rather to pick names that she felt were appropriate for the dynamic duo.


Brianna

Why Brianna? Well, it was a popular name for little girls at the time and amy thought it would be cute to be calling for her Brianna just like other Moms.


According to the US SSA Popular Baby Names page, Brianna was the 18th most popular name from 2000-2004 and the 26th most popular name from 1990-1999. And when Brianna was born in Maryland in 1997, Brianna was the state's 15th most popular name for little girls.


Actually, Brianna has a much longer name - amy used up all the blanks on the AKC form when she filled Brianna's full name in: Brianna of the Summer Breeze.




Brianna is a Celtic name in origen and means strong one. Brianna's name fits her perfectly.

Why Jasper? amy thought of picture jasper or scenic jasper when she saw his beautiful coloration - a pattern of browns and creams, like sand and rock in the desert.


According to the US SSA Popular Baby Names page, Jasper was the 553rd most popular name from 2000-2004 and the 664th most popular name from 1990-1999. Poor Jasper, his name just isn't as popular as Brianna's.


Jasper has a much AKC longer name too: Honey Touched Jasper


Jasper is a Persian name in origen and means treasurer. It comes from the words ghaz=the treasure and bar=to manage.




The name Jasper is often used in Christianity as one of the three Magi, who brought gifts to the infant Christ at his birth.


Jasper is a stone of gentleness, relaxation, and harmony - which could easily describe Jasper's happy-go-lucky, loving nature.
